Well, this ought to give you some idea as to the variety of geek that i am. Airplane porn for the win!
But Jesus! Listen to the sound of those engines! And that an airplane that big can climb like that is impressive. I was flying out of KMSP aboard a Northwest Airlines Boeing 757-200 several years back and watched the runway markers tick past on the take-off roll. That airplane only used 2500 feet of runway on take-off! That is next to nothing for an aircraft of that size. When i stopped by the cockpit to chat the pilot after the flight, he said we were climbing out at 6500 feet per minute, which again, is astounding performance.
Seeing stuff like this really makes me wish i'd pursued flying as a career rather than just for recreation. I highly doubt my local FBO will be offering an aircraft like this one for rent anytime soon.
I was in seattle over Memorial day weekend, and nearly had a "crisis" (anyone watch Top Gear? Anyone?) when we drove by Boeing field. I tried to make my friends pull over for pictures, but they refused. I just have to go back to see the museum sometime, I suppose.
@Mind Of Mine: Me too!!! I'm an airplane junkie, can't get enough. :)
@Gauss Jordan: I have a significant emotional event every time i drive past BFI. Last time i drove past there were three 787's, a 747-8 freighter, a 747-8 Intercontinental as well as the usual smattering of other Boeing aircraft on top of whatever happens to be sitting on the ramp.
I'm in my early 30's, gay, and am finally out of the closet. I feel extremely frustrated by the fact I've waited so long to come out. So much of my life has been wasted in loneliness and living a lie. Now that i'm out, i'm able to be myself and i no longer have to conceal who I really am. But now i can see that coming out was the easy part. I have finally met the man of my dreams and am happier than i have been in a long time. Despite this, letting go of the past and moving on is going to be far more difficult than i had ever imagined.
