I now live in a part of the US that sees almost no snow in the winter. I have lived in places that are in a deep freeze from November to May too. This year, my nice little relatively snow free part of the world was hammered by Old Man Winter. Snow is very pretty to look at, but very tiring to commute in. I'd be just delighted to never see another snow flake as long as i may live. So, by special request of Mirrorboy, "the snowy ones".

Woot! Awesomeeeeee!! ^_^
I went to mass (Catholic) about two years ago. My Aunt said: OMG, it's going to snow!
It did. Four days later.
For the first time in twelve years.
Looks pretty, but I agree; much prefer sunny weather and electric storms with rain.
you have a nice eye for composition in your shots - any training?
I love the snow!
Did you run out and roll around in it??
I love snow angels...
Nice pics. The snow is beautiful.
Looks really nice.
I like it, when it has lots of snow. I even dragged my man to Siberia. He is from Mexico. When he saw it snowing for the first time, he spent the entire night at the window, enjoying the scene. Still, as soon as it starts to snow, he turns into a marvelling boy. Snow is fascinating, I would miss it.
You're not convincing me, I think it's beautiful and would love to live in it. :P

Snow is sonething to aprpeciate when its here and when its not
but nothing makes the ground look better than an fresh covering of snow

great pics deadwing. for the composition, my fave is the 3rd one, except i find my eye being drawn a bit to the tree going out of the frame on the top right. i think the problem with it is that it goes a bit 'fatter' right near the top of the frame.
don't get me wrong tho - i've been to loads of photo competitions and i'm very picky picky. apart from that it and the others have a lot going for them.
torchy!
hope you don't take this the wrong way. :)
I so envy your friggin' awesome views!! Second picture is so... perfectly serene. :)
@Mirrorboy: :D
@Sethy: Does you Aunt receive news directly from God? If so, see if she can round up some winning lottery numbers for me. :p
@Goleftatthefork: No training of any sort. I just take pics of what looks good to me.
@Randy: Sorry, no snow angels. Too busy shoveling the driveway in the 8 hours i had off between shifts.
@Naturgesetz: Thanks!
@Gomad.ch: I can see how your man would marvel at the snow. I really wouldn't mind the snow if i didn't have a 40 mile commute, or if i didn't have to leave the house. My city and state do not do a very good job of keeping the roads passable, and neither does my neighborhood. I was effectively stranded for 2 days this past winter because i couldn't get my car up the hill and on to the main road.
@James: Yes, it's quite beautiful. Se my comment to gomad.ch for my reason to never want to see it again. :p
@Bob: Fresh snowfall is quite beautiful indeed.
@Torchy!: Thanks for the pointers. The snow photos were taken on my little Canon PowerShot. I have zero training as a photographer, but since i bought my big Nikon, i have been thinking about taking some courses or something. So, no worries! I'll take any pointers you want to give. :)
@Seth: Thanks. The view is the only thing that has kept me from moving. Most of the neighbors are elitist snobs. lol.
Beautiful. I've only been in snow once (and don't remember it). I'd also love to live in it and make snow angels.
Elitist snobs? How fun.
I can see your point with the commute and poor maintenance. I live closer and can commute by bicycle. 5 months ago my I slid in a poorly maintained icy roundabout. My shoulder hit the kerbside pretty hard. Nothing broken, but it still hurts. Bad roads are the flipside of winter.
@S: :) Next time it snows, you are more than welcome to come up and make snow angels. :p Yeah, the elitist snobs are a real gas...they have all got spots on the HOA board, and keep coming up with ridiculous rules to piss me off. lol.
@gomad.ch: OUCH!! Glad to hear nothing is broken. Heal up soon!
